Every Course In Mario Golf: Super Rush (& How To Unlock Them)

When players first begin their Mario Golf: Super Rush adventure, they'll only have access to three courses. By playing through the game's Golf Adventure mode or completing 18 holes on the courses available in regular play, however, they'll be able to unlock an additional four courses. Strictly speaking, there is an eighth course that is used exclusively for Battle Golf, although the Super Golf Stadium cannot be used during regular play and only appears in the Golf Adventure mode briefly during the opening cutscene.

Though some may be a little disappointed with the limited number of courses on offer in Mario Golf: Super Rush, it's difficult to argue that they don't at least offer a lot of variety. Each poses its own unique set of challenges for players to overcome and they only get more difficult as players make their way through the game. What's more, a Super Mario Odyssey-inspired course has already been added, so there's every chance that more new courses will follow in future updates.

Updated on August 8, 2021 by Tom Bowen: Thanks to Nintendo's E3 2021 presentation, fans knew that a New Donk City-inspired course would be coming to Mario Golf: Super Rush at some point. What they didn't know is when. Fast forward a few months, and that question has now been answered, with Nintendo adding the course into the game as part of the 2.0 update. It may only be a short one, but for fans of Super Mario Odyssey or those looking for a vibrant course that's teeming with delightful sights and sounds, it's a welcome addition and, hopefully, the first of many DLC courses for Mario Golf: Super Rush.

A basic course perfect for beginners.

With its wide fairways and out-of-the-way bunkers, the Rookie Course really is the best place to learn the basics in Mario Golf: Super Rush. Weather conditions are fair, there are no real obstacles to speak of and the layout of each hole is incredibly simple making it easy for novice players to plan out their shots. The scenery is nice too, making it one of the more relaxing courses to play a round on.

The Rookie Course is one of the two default courses in Mario Golf: Super Rush and is available to players from the very beginning of the game.

Players will unlock the Rookie Course in Golf Adventure after completing the three tutorial exercises in the practice area of Bonny Greens.

A classic course featuring rolling hills and beautiful scenery.

The Bonny Greens course is very similar to the Rookie Course, although there are a few notable differences. For one thing, the placement of the course's bunkers now poses much more of a challenge, with players now needing to think a little more about the carry of their shots. There are also quite a lot more trees to think about, meaning that players will either need to take a slower route to the hole or learn how to utilize spin to navigate around all of the foliage.

The Bonny Greens Course is one of the two default courses in Mario Golf: Super Rush and is available to players from the very beginning of the game.

Before players can test out their skills on the Bonny Greens course, they'll first need to complete the final three holes of the Rookie Course in under ten minutes and with a score of +3 or better.

A windy course featuring steep cliffs and a majestic lake.

For many players, the Ridgerock Lake course will be their first taste of XC Golf, which, unlike regular golf, allows players to select the order in which they complete the course's holes. Wind levels are noticeably stronger than in earlier courses, while the steep cliffs and tornadoes can make gaining elevation incredibly challenging. The course also features numerous enemies, which players will need to take into account when lining up their shots.

In order to unlock the Ridgerock Lake course, players will need to complete 18 holes on the Bonny Greens course. This can be done in regular play or while playing the Golf Adventure mode.

Players will unlock the Ridgerock Lake course after they have completed the Bonny Hills tournament with a score of +8 or better and have been awarded the Chrome badge.

A desert course featuring sandy dunes and rocky mountains.

The blistering heat of the Balmy Dunes course makes it the perfect setting for Speed Golf. Its arid plains offer little in the way of rain or wind, but the vast amount of sand makes it more bunker than golf course at times. There are also Pokeys (the cactus-like creatures from Super Mario Bros. 2) on many of the holes, which provide more on a vertical obstacle than the Brolders in Ridgerock Lake.

The Balmy Dunes course will become available in regular play once players have completed 18 holes on the Ridgerock Lake course. This can be done either in regular play or while playing the Gold Adventure mode.

Players will gain access to the Balmy Dunes after completing the back nine at Ridgerock Lake in 40 strokes or fewer and unlocking the Bronze badge. Before they can visit, however, they'll first need to stop in and see Master Stinger to learn about special shots.

A woodsy course prone to heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The Wildweather Woods course is one of the more challenging courses in Mario Golf: Super Rush. Rain, strong winds, and lightning give players a lot to think about, while the numerous lakes and rivers that litter the course can quickly ruin a round if players aren't careful. All of the holes provide their own unique challenges, but it's the 16th, with its extendable Piranha Plants, that will likely cause players the most trouble.

The Wildweather Woods course won't be available until after players have completed all 18 holes at Balmy Dunes. As with other course unlocks, this can either be accomplished in regular play or while playing the Golf Adventure mode.

Before players can visit Wildweather Woods in the Golf Adventure mode, they'll first need to gain their Silver badge by completing the Speed Golf challenge with Boo and Chargin' Chuck on the Balmy Dunes course.

A hazardous course designed by Bowser to challenge Mario

The Bowser Highlands course is full to the brim with obstacles. Some of these, like the many fireballs, are designed to impact the player. The others are positioned in such a way as to make certain shots incredibly challenging, while the rivers of lava make it a very unforgiving course even when it comes to tiny mistakes. When playing the course in the game's Golf Adventure mode, many of the holes also feature ice and snow hazards, which cranks up the difficulty further still.

In order to unlock the Bowser Highlands course for regular play, players will need to complete all 18 holes at Wildweather Woods. As well as in regular play, this can also be done by finishing the Speed Golf pro challenge with Luigi and Donkey Kong in the game's Golf Adventure mode.

Players won't be able to visit the Bowser Highlands course without a Gold badge, meaning they'll need to defeat Luigi and Donkey Kong in the pro Speed Golf challenge at Wildweather Woods.

The Super Golf Stadium is an indoor arena that was designed exclusively for the game's Battle Golf mode. The course itself features nine holes, with players competing to see who can be the first to score three points in what usually ends up being a chaotic free for all. Sadly, players aren't able to play regular golf at the stadium, nor can it be used for XC or Speed Golf.

Interestingly, the Super Golf Stadium does show up briefly in a cutscene at the very beginning of the Golf Adventure mode, although players aren't ever given an opportunity to play it during their adventure. By defeating the Snow King and completing the game, however, players can at least unlock the ability to use their custom Mii golfer when playing Battle Golf.

A ridonkulous course featuring all par 3 holes and two layouts: Amateur and Pro.

New Donk City is great for those looking to play a quick round of golf. All 18 holes are par 3 and the weather conditions are generally quite easy to deal with. It's also a fantastic course for those hoping to unlock Star Clubs, as, in addition to being a short course, there's also plenty of potential for holes in one. There are one or two tricky holes though, particularly those which involve landing the ball on the tops of buildings, so players will need to think about how their ball is going to carry when planning their shots.

New Donk City was added to the game as part of the free 2.0 update in August of 2021. Once the update has been installed, players will be able to find it at the bottom of the course select screen.

New Donk City is unavailable in Golf Adventure mode at the time of writing. While it is possible that it might make an appearance in the future when more substantial DLC is released, players must for now settle for exploring the course in regular and online play only.
