Although not outright confirmed by Insomniac or Sony, it is safe to assume that a proper sequel to 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man will swing onto the PlayStation 5 at some point in the coming years. The first game left some teases and blatant setup for a follow-up, with everything from the Green Goblin to Venom being hinted at as potential antagonists for the web-head to deal with.

The surprise spin-off game in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales helped flesh out that character as well, developing Miles as his own hero to compliment Peter. With many fans clamoring for a multiplayer Spider-Man mode in the upcoming game, Insomniac surely has huge expectations to live up to. Insomniac has proven itself to be a competent developer with great power in the industry, and with that great power comes great responsibility, as most fans know by now.

Square Enix may have dropped the ball in some areas with Marvel's Avengers, but so far its sophomore Marvel offering is shaping up to be more promising. Development duties on Guardians of the Galaxy are in the hands of Eidos Montreal, best known for its efforts on the Deus Ex franchise as well as Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The studio clearly understands how to deliver a big blockbuster experience worthy of the Marvel brand, and its Deus Ex heritage adds promise to the intricate interaction features planned for Guardians of the Galaxy.

The overall look, style, tone, and presentation of the game seems to perfectly balance the interpretation of the team seen in both the comics and MCU films, delivering a "best of both worlds" outcome that should please fans of all kinds. The combat furthermore looks flashy and fun, and branching dialogue options present an opportunity for fun conversations with many members of the team. With the launch of the game mere months away at the time of this writing, it will be clear soon just how high in the stars Square's latest Marvel offering soar.

Task Force X is back in a big way with James Gunn's latest film, but for those who can't get enough, more content is coming in the future. A teaser trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was shown off at last year's DC Fandome event, hinting at the title's premise, gameplay, and overall tone. Characters like Harley Quinn, Deadshot, and Killer Shark are already confirmed to be present, with more fan favorites surely being kept as a surprise.

Considering Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is being created by Rocksteady and is confirmed to be part of the chronology present in the Batman: Arkham franchise, the project is that much more exciting. Actual gameplay has yet to be shown, but hopefully fans don't have to wait long to see the game in action, and furthermore actually get their hands on it.

Speaking of the Batman: Arkham series, it was long rumored that Warner Bros. Montreal was taking control of the franchise and continuing where Rocksteady left off. While Batman was indeed the basis for WB Montreal's next game, it is not a sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight, and instead a new interpretation of the Batman narrative. Taking place after Batman has vanished from Gotham City, other vigilantes such as Batgirl and Nightwing step in to combat villains like Mr. Freeze and the Court of Owls.

The multiplayer component of Gotham Knights, and open-world structure are sure to guarantee a ton of replayability and freedom with how the adventure is tackled. While initially slated for release this year, the game was pushed to 2022 for further development time. Gamers will just have to wait a little longer to defend the streets of Gotham from its most deranged supervillains.

While barely any crumbs of information can be found regarding a third Injustice game, some players have deduced that it may be the next project coming from NetherRealm. For one, the studio has confirmed it has no additional content to implement into Mortal Kombat 11, and will instead be diverting all of its attention to the next game on its schedule. While this could be anything, for the past few years, the team has alternated between Injustice and Mortal Kombat franchises as its main focus, with the former now due to be back in the spotlight.
