Evil Genius 2 is out now for PlayStation and Xbox consoles – it’s on Xbox Game Pass too

The evil lair building of Evil Genius 2: World Domination is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, following on from the PC release earlier this year. Evil Genius 2 is also available through Xbox Game Pass for both console and PC.

Hitting PCs back in March, Evil Genius 2 revived the classic lair builder some fifteen years after the release of the original game. The game casts you as a genius villain carving out a secret base behind the front of a remote tropical casino, building up your infrastructure to support more and more schemes on the world stage and eventually create a doomsday weapon with which to dominate the world. Of course, do-gooder agents from around the world will come along and try to foil your nefarious plans, so you have to repel their incursions by placing tons of wild and wacky traps, training up your guards to be tougher and have beefier armaments, and even getting stuck in yourself.

There’s four evil geniuses to choose from each with different specialties. Maximillian is your all-rounder, and the main villain that returns from the original game. Meanwhile, Ivan is the bombastic ex-Soviet with a rocket launcher, Emma is the sneaky and deceptive jilted spymaster, while Zalika is the real genius amongst them with a focus on the scientific.

Since launch, Rebellion has been working to expand the game with DLC content available in the Season Pass, which has nearly run its course – there’s just one more DLC pack to release in 2022. The Season Pass is available as part of the Deluxe Edition of Evil Genius 2, to purchase separately, or with each DLC item available to buy individually. The contents thus far include:

  • The Cabal Pack
  • In-Genius Items Pack
  • Rise of the Valkyrie Pack
  • Team Fortress 2 Pyro Pack
  • Portal Pack
  • Mechanical Minions Pack
  • Abomination Pack

There’s just one final instalment in the Season Pass yet to come, which will launch in 2022 with a brand new Genius, a new ambition and new ways to build and run your Lair.

Evil Genius 2 Season Pass Roadmap

We rather enjoyed the game in our Evil Genius 2 review, saying:

“Evil Genius 2 is a worthy return to the world stage for the classic lair builder formula. While there’s certain areas that could be improved in the presentation or the game balance, building up your 60s spy villain lair and defeating the seemingly endless string of agents trying to foil your plans is immensely satisfying and engaging.”

Keep an eye out for a more precise release date announcement soon.
