Frostpunk 2 Pre-Order Listings Are Fake, Says Developers

11 Bit Studios has officially announced Frostpunk 2 just one week ago, and currently has no idea how much the game will cost when it goes on sale. However, there are already scammers selling fake pre-order keysf or the sequel, so the fans should be on the look out for frauds.

The devs had drawn attention to the case on Twitter, sharing a screengrab from storefront Kinguin, which was claiming to have Steam keys for $32. As explained by 11 Bit, the sequel was only just revealed, and the studio doesn’t know the price of the future game, so there are no keys up for grabs just yet. In addition, scammers claim to have a PEGI age rating for Frostpunk 2, though it’s obviously too early for that.

The Frostpunk 2 Twitter account doesn't seem happy at all over this attempt to mislead fans. Soon enough, the listing on Kinguin was completely taken down. It seems that if you want Frostpunk 2 that badly, you'll just have to be patient until an offical announcement is made. For now, the title is still seemingly in the early stages of development.

Some game key resell sites have previously come under fire for allowing stolen keys to be sold on their platforms, which is why many developers are calling out for them to verify the source. Considering prices on such sites are generally cheaper than other offerings, those wanting to save money might be attracted to the offer. Sadly, some of those listings contain keys bought even acquired using stolen credit cards, which when discovered, can sometimes result in the game developer or publisher reimbursing the victim.

Despite Frostpunk 2 being announced just recently, there is already much excitement among fans for the upcoming game. The title was able to land at the Top 50 wishlists on Steam, leaving behind plenty of other anticipated games such as Deathloop, Life is Strange: True Colors, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and Aliens: Fireteam Elite.

The devs have promised that Frostpunk 2 will be “more than a straight-up sequel". The game is coming to PC and will be available on Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store.
