Genshin Impact Shares Preview Of New Aloy Gameplay And Anniversary Concert

During Gamescom's Opening Night Live, Mihoyo shared a new look at the free, upcoming five-star character Aloy, and a preview of its anniversary concert set to air on October 3.

Since July, Genshin Impacts have known that Horizon Zero Dawn's protagonist, Aloy, would be headed to Teyvat's open world. We've seen a few previews of the cryo-bow user here and there, but today's footage provided an additional glimpse at her kit in an official capacity.

Aloy's latest video isn't the typical deep dive Mihoyo debuts ahead of a character's banner, so there's surely still a little more of her on the horizon. Genshin Impact's collaboration marks the first of its kind with Sony, and the first time the game will provide a free five-star character to players through an event. If you're playing on PS4 or PS5, you can grab her early on September 1. For those of you on PC or mobile, you'll have to wait until version 2.2 in October before you can add her to your team.

As for Mihoyo's other update, it's got nothing to do with in-game celebrations, but it does give us a tease of the anniversary concert, Melodies of an Endless Journey, coming this fall. Mihoyo will celebrate one year of Genshin Impact with musicians around the world, and the Gamescom clip includes a performance from the world-famous Belgium Flanders Symphony Orchestra. The concert is a free, streaming experience, and its official site even boasts a merchandise section – though there's nothing there just yet.

Genshin Impact's 2.1 special announcement live stream just wrapped up last week, revealing that the Raiden Shogun, Baal, will kick off the game's next update as its first five-star banner character. She'll be accompanied by electro bow user Kujou Sara as a new four-star party member. Teyvat's next big adventure also includes the usual assortment of events and will add a new fishing mechanic to the game.

Mihoyo's steady stream of updates to Genshin Impact continues, but all of it hasn't been well received. While the game will celebrate its first birthday with musical fanfare, some Travelers have voiced concerns over a perceived stinginess from the developer after it revealed its anniversary reward plans. Genshin Impact's subreddit is also full of complaints about Yoimiya, the latest five-star banner character, and her performance issues.
