Gran Turismo 7 might not have a release date, but a currently inaccessible beta test has been found hidden in a dark corner of the PlayStation website.
Between the release of the next generation of consoles and the world being gripped by a pandemic for the last 16 months, game launch delays are more prominent than ever right now. The initial slates of both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X were likely a little thinner than both companies wanted them to be, and some games that were expected within the last six months now won't be here until at least 2022.
One of those titles is Gran Turismo 7. The iconic racing sim's next chapter was supposed to be here by now. However, it has since been confirmed that the game is one of the titles to have its launch date pushed into next year. On the bright side, something discovered in a little-explored corner of the PlayStation website indicates a lucky few might get to try it out early.
It's unclear who made the discovery first, but GTPlanet has highlighted the discovery of a Gran Turismo 7 beta test on the PlayStation website. The dark corner of the site it has been discovered in is an Experience PlayStation promo. Experience PlayStation was launched in 2017 but is rarely used. That is demonstrated by the complicated steps you need to take to find the Gran Turismo 7 beta.
After finding the Experience PlayStation section of the site, you must then hit Start Quest, click Related Campaigns, and then press Italia Quest. The Gran Turismo Beta will then be one of four quests that appears, providing PlayStation hasn't read about and subsequently hidden it by the time you read this. Even though it seems to be listed for Italian users, it is open to anybody.
Don't go getting your hopes up and thinking you'll be playing a brand new Gran Turismo before the end of the day, though. Everyone is being given the same code and when you try to redeem it, nothing happens. The test also appears to be for PS5 only. PlayStation has already confirmed Gran Turismo 7 will also be on PS4, but this could be the first hint that if a beta test does go live, it will be for PS5 owners only. That makes sense since it will be Gran Turismo's first foray onto the new console.
