In its Tweet, Arc System Works said, "GuiltyGearStrive keeps on rocking with over 500K units worldwide". It then shared that the DLC character announcement will be taking place on July 21 at 02:00am BST/ 03:00am CEST. As a celebration for reaching 500k, the first season pass is currently available at a reduced price, although at the time of writing this hasn't taken effect in the UK or US.

The last time we heard about Guilty Gear Strive's sales numbers was just a few days after the game launched. ArcSystem Works announced that it had sold over 300,000 in its first few days being on sale, which means that Strive has sold around 200,000 units over the last month. Guilty Gear Strive is currently the best selling fighting game of 2021, although it doesn't really have much competition right now.

As for the first DLC character, the game's story mode has given a fair few hints as to who might be joining the roster. Many fans believe that Happy Chaos and Goldlewis Dickinson are amongst the first characters being added to Guilty Gear Strive, as they both make several appearances in the story mode and have references to them buried in the game's text. It's confirmed that this first character will be a newcomer to the series, whilst the second character will be a veteran of the series and release in August.

ArcSystem Works has previously dated the first DLC character as arriving in July, which means that it's possible that they will be shadow-dropped following the reveal. If not an instant release, ArcSys has around a week to release the character and stick to its planned roadmap.
