Sony’s CFO Hiroki Totoki today has just announced in a conference call for investors, that all chipsets needed for the company to meet this year’s PS5 sales target have already been secured, managing worries regarding the current semiconductor shortage.

During the same conference call, Totoki-san has confirmed that the current sales target for this fiscal year is set to be 14.8 million PS5 units, which should bring the PS5 total console sales since its release to just about 22.6 million units.

It’s worth mentioning that Sony has just recently celebrated its milestone, selling 10 Million PS5 units in under a year since its release, making the PS5 the fastest-selling console ever and beating the PS4 records.

PS5 has been keeping its user base content so far with next-gen only exclusives such as Astro’s Playroom, Demon’s Souls Remastered, Destruction AllStars, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.

It’s still unclear what the company plans for the PS5 future, as it has been recently announced that all upcoming anticipated PlayStation exclusives such as the next God of War and Horizon Forbidden West will also be releasing on the PS4. Not to mention the rumors surrounding the next Horizon game joining God of War in being delayed to 2022.
