Helldivers 2 Suffering From Login Capacity Issues Again as Peak Player Count Passes 333,000 on Steam

While Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 was welcomed with enthusiasm by players following its successful launch, success comes with its set of issues.

The game suffered from login issues as the servers hit capacity after its release, and while the developers have already increased the limits, they have been overtaken again by player demand and capacity issues have resurfaced, preventing many from logging in.

The developers announced the problems on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, promising that they’re working to improve the issue and hope to have a fix as soon as possible.

Despite our best efforts to increase server capacity to accommodate all of you who want to dive for Freedom, we are experiencing capacity issues. We are once more working without delay to improve the issue and we hope to have a fix in place as soon as possible. Thank you.

On the bright side, and probably connected, the game has just achieved a new record of peak concurrent players on Steam today, at just over 333,000 according to the monitoring website SteamDB. This figure places the game in 28th place among the highest concurrent user counts of all time on Valve’s digital distribution platform.

Of course, the actual total is likely much higher counting players on PS5.

This is likely at least in part due to large XP and Requisition bonuses promised by Arrowhead until tomorrow to make it up for another issue that prevented players from receiving the proper rewards after missions.

Helldivers 2 is now available for PS5 and PC via Steam, and it’s published by Sony PlayStation on both platforms. If you’re unfamiliar with the game and want to see what it looks like, you can check out the latest trailer and another.

Sony has recently renewed its commitment to publish some of its games on PC seeking improved profitability. Helldivers 2, which was released simultaneously on PS5 and PC, is probably the best example that this strategy may be successful.
