Henry Cavill Addresses Possible Bathtub Scenes In The Witcher Season 2

If you’re one of no doubt many hoping to see Henry Cavill strip off for a soak in the bathtub as Geralt during The Witcher season 2, there may be naught but disappointment ahead. As a means of celebrating the franchise as a whole, this year marked the inauguration of WitcherCon, a convention encompassing the games, live-action series and, of course, Andrzej Sapkowski’s original books.

Naturally, showrunners of Netflix’s TV adaptation were present to provide plenty of teasers and hints for the upcoming second season, with central star Henry Cavill himself taking a seat in the interviewee’s chair. One of several topics brought up during the chat concerned whether audiences would be getting more scenes of Geralt practicing good personal hygiene, to which the actor offered a humorous response.

“Geralt only showers from now on,” he quips, in reference to the season 1 scene where the titular monster hunter goes for a long soak in a bath, adding, jokingly, “he invented the shower for this very reason.” “Myself, personally, there’s no bathtub scenes,” he continues, “but people will not be disappointed, there’s plenty of man-flesh to be observed.”

For anyone wondering why an otherwise unremarkable scene is so noteworthy, it stems from a sequence in the opening moments of CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, where, you guessed it, Geralt gets in the tub. Unsurprising, then, that creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will be avoiding repeating the very same Easter egg, though Cavill’s reassurance should at least allay any concerns over the show’s return being a more reserved affair.

The Witcher season 2 is scheduled to air on Netflix from December 17th and, if you haven’t already, be sure to check out the first trailer revealed during WitcherCon over here.
