Finding Lilli a “rare fungus” is one of the first side missions you can complete in Psychonauts 2. Doing so will net you an achievement, A Fungus Among Us, as well as a PSI Challenge Marker to use upgrades. If you want 100% completion, you'll need to do this mission.

Psychonauts 2- How To Find Lilli
The first step towards starting this mission is to find where Lilli is located. After leaving the Motherlobe, turn to your right, and you should see some rocks that can be leapt across. Follow that path all the way until it starts going up and you’ll see Lilli sat in a little garden.
Talk to Lilli and she’ll express that she’s worried about her dad. Ask her if there’s anything you can do to help and she’ll ask you to get a “rare fungus”. You’ll get a clue in your notebook that it comes from the Questionable Area, which is where we’re headed next.
Psychonauts 2- How To Find The Fungus
When you get to the Questionable Area, go to the left and head past the Forgetful Forest. You’ll see a funicular that needs to be repaired. Gather the three gears that are left about using Telekinesis and put them on the engine. The first gear will be sat right next to the broken-down engine. The other two are very close by. Here are their locations.
Once the gears are placed, you can then ride the funicular to the top of the mountain. Follow the path to the right, where you’ll have to platform across some gaps. When you reach the end, you’ll be right next to the reverse waterfall.
The “rare fungus” you’re looking for can actually be found right behind the waterfall. To get behind it, you’ll need to use Time Bubble on a log as it rises up, and then jump into the waterfall after jumping on a log. You can also try and glitch the game by jumping from a log into the waterfall, but it's much easier to just wait until you have Time Bubble.
You’ll find yourself in a cave lit up with purple crystals. Right in front of you will be a large purple mushroom. Interact with it to pick it up. From there, all you’ll need to do is return the mushroom to Lilli, which will complete the side mission, reward you with a PSI Challenge Marker and, most importantly, give you the Fungus Among Us achievement.
