Jungle Book Added To Disney Classic Games Collection

An ESRB rating for a re-release of 2019's Disney Classics Collection has revealed The Jungle Book will be added to the new pack on multiple platforms

When it comes to remasters and remakes, it feels a little like no game is off-limits. No matter how old or obscure, odds are someone has considered reviving a defunct franchise by re-releasing its games or creating a sequel. In 2019, it was the turn of a couple of classic sidescrollers Disney released on SNES and Sega Genesis.

The Lion King and Aladdin, both of which launched on the aforementioned platforms in the mid to late '90s, were remastered and bundled together. That remaster is now getting a re-release according to an ESRB rating discovered online this week. The new version is coming to multiple platforms and will also include The Jungle Book.

Similar to The Lion King and Aladdin in its style, The Jungle Book is another 2D sidescroller that launched on SNES and the Genesis as well as Game Boy and Game Gear. If Disney sticks with what it did for its first remastered collection, all versions of the game will be included. The Lion King and Aladdin differed slightly on SNES and Genesis but both versions of each were included in Disney's 2019 collection.

Disney frequently created games, with the help of developers, alongside major releases throughout the 1990s and into the early 2000s. Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Hercules, and Tarzan are just some of the iconic animated movies that also had pretty good games to go along with them. Perhaps over the coming years, more of those games will be revived and added to the Disney Classic Games Collection.

The only thing that might annoy those who want to play The Jungle Book when it launches is seemingly having to buy The Lion King and Aladdin for a second time. The rating makes it sound like the three games will be packagaed together for a re-release. While that does make sense for those who haven't already bought the first package, hopefully there will also be an option to buy or download The Jungle Book separately. The platforms listed in ESRB's rating are PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, but no mention of PS5.
