Live A Live Trademarked in Numerous Countries

Live A Live

Multiple trademarks in various nations have been filed for Live A Live, leading to speculation of an announcement from Square Enix.

Multiple registered trademarks had been discovered since early July for Australia, Canada, and Europe. Gematsu reports these were filed on July 2nd, 3rd, and 6th respectively. Now, Nintendo Enthusiast has discovered another trademark made in the US.

The screenshot of the (now seemingly deleted) trademark listing shows it was filed on July 7th by Square Enix. Live A Live never received an official western release, and later came to the Virtual Console for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan. It is entirely possible these trademarks are leading up to a port with English translation, or even a remake.

The 1994 SNES JRPG had players control eight characters across nine chapters, each with their own playstyle outside of the turn-based combat. Characters move around a 7 x 7 grid. Each chapter takes place in a different place and time, with the protagonist for that chapter fighting a foe with “Odio” in their name.

We will keep you informed as we learn more.
