How much better do the graphics in Mario Party Superstars appear when compared to the old Nintendo 64 mini-games from Mario Party 1, 2, and 3? See for yourself!
The GameXplain YouTube channel has released an interesting comparison video dedicated to Mario Party Superstars, the new game in the series announced during the Nintendo Direct at E3 2021 and set to arrive on October 29 for the Switch.
Mario Party Superstars is not a first-of-its-kind game in the series. It includes a recreation of the first three historical chapters of the Mario Party series for the Nintendo 64. It has five classic Nintendo 64 tables, including Peach’s Birthday Cake and Space Lands, as well as several mini-games that have been present since the first games. It is for this reason that we will compare the games on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 64.
A remake, not a remaster
This isn’t just a remastering, as you can see in the video below. In fact, the game’s graphics have been completely updated, preserving the game’s playability and mechanics. Classics such as mountain climbing, snowball fights, arrow shooting against spheres, and so on are seen in the video. Certainly, the graphical distinction between one and the other is clear, thus it appears to be a gift to be able to enjoy classic mini-games again.

Despite the fact that Nintendo is frequently returning to its classic games to replenish content in new games, seeing work like the one in Mario Party Superstars is much appreciated. Nonetheless, Nintendo’s choice was not well-received by a large group of fans for the same reason.
Some fans would want to see 100% unique and new content from the Japanese company, rather than rehashes of well-known titles. We’ve seen it with Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, and a slew of other video game franchises that have been subjected to several remakes and remasters in the last decade.
