Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is supposedly in development, and the discussion around the game has caused a lot of fans to make some suit requests. One fan has a particularly interesting idea for a Marvel’s Spider-Man costume, however, as it would see a funny version of the classic suit added to the game.
The first Marvel’s Spider-Man game had no shortage of classic suit variants for players to choose from. Alongside the traditional costume, every movie version of the webslinger’s suit was added. While there are slight variations in each, like the Raimi Suit’s raised webbing or the MCU suit’s small spider, all of them are essentially the same costume. Despite this, Reddit user KiraQueenBitesZaDust believes that there is one more version of Peter’s original suit that Insomniac should make usable in-game.

The suit in question is none other than 1960s Spider-Man, with the fan pushing to see the animated show’s take on the hero represented. The costume is inherently strange, as Spider-Man’s on-suit webbing does not cover the entirety of his costume. Instead, it is seen on his mask and wrists, with his body and shoulders colored in a flat red. Likely done to make the costume less complex for animators, the ridiculously tiny spider only makes the look weirder. However, the outfit has resulted in some great memes, which is exactly why this suit is being requested for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
There has been no shortage of Spidey memes tied to the old animated series, with some of the most iconic being the ones with Peter behind a desk and Peter whispering from around the corner. In recent years, the Spider-Man pointing meme has taken the world by storm, with the scene even playing out in the post credits sequence Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. With this moment being so popular, Redditor Swipamous makes the wise suggestion that the costume’s suit power could be tied to cloning as an homage to the meme.
Meman27 makes a good suggestion, stating that the suit should be treated as a joke costume. Like the outfit from the first game that saw Peter donning nothing but a mask and a pair of boxers, the 1960s costume could be completely hidden from the lineup of unlockable outfits. As suggested by Meman27, the costume could be a 100% completion bonus, with players able to use the meme-inspired suit after they have done everything else in the game. With such a design available, players could recreate all the memes from the old series using Marvel's Spider-Man's photo mode.
With the story of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 likely being dark and serious due to the Symbiote’s inclusion, having something like the 60s suit could help brighten the mood. If the reaction to this post is anything to come by, it seems like many players would be happy to see it.
