New Battlefield 2042 Pre-Order Bonus Should Please BF4 Fans

The latest entry in the Battlefield series releases this fall, and EA continues to reveal new details about it. A short film from EA recently revealed that a Battlefield 4 character is returning with Battlefield 2042, and it may interest players who pre-order the game.

During a recently released Battlefield 2042 video, Kimble "Irish" Graves made a return after being presumed dead in Battlefield 4. The short film showed off several narrative aspects of the game while confirming the new character joining the Battlefield 2042 roster. EA has also officially confirmed that players who pre-order Battlefield 2042 will receive an Irish skin.

In a recent post on the EA website, there was confirmation that Irish will be part of the pre-order program. Players who pre-order the game will receive an exclusive Irish Battle Hardened legendary skin. Battlefield 4 fans may be further enticed to pre-order the game before its October release with this free offer.

The legendary skin being offered for players that pre-order Battlefield 2042 is the same outfit that Irish wore in the recent Exodus video. Since the skin is being offered in celebration of the return of Irish, players who purchase the game after release will still be able to play as an alternate version of the character. EA has confirmed that Irish's veteran trait spawns the soldier with extra body armor.

The legendary skin comes with everything fans of the Exodus video have seen, including the grey camo, fluorescent yellow gloves, and beige military pack covering his torso. There's also a military green side pouch and kneepads as part of the skin. The Battlefield 2042 promotional material fittingly shows him equipped with a shotgun. This pre-order bonus hasn't been announced as exclusive to any special edition of the game, meaning players who pre-order any edition will receive the skin.

Michael K Williams is reprising his role as Irish in Battlefield 2042 after a long hiatus since Battlefield 4. Many Battlefield fans thought Irish died at the end of Battlefield 4 during the Suez mission, as one of the options a player is presented with sacrifices the soldier. Because Irish is in Battlefield 2042, the Hannah ending is presumed as official canon. Irish is apparently one of the major familiar names fighting against the antagonist of Battlefield 2042 and his army.

Some Battlefield fans on Reddit think that the Irish Battle Hardened legendary skin is a good incentive to pre-order the upcoming game, while others aren't so convinced. A few veterans of the series used previous Battlefield titles as examples not to pre-order Battlefield 2042. Many Battlefield fans are celebrating the return of Irish since the Exodus short movie, with some confirming their pre-orders.

Battlefield 2042 releases on October 22 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
