It’s quite possible that at this point, you’re struggling to even remember PlayStation’s previously “upcoming” exclusive, Wild. The game was set to be an epic, open-world game, and it was originally announced in PlayStation’s Gamescom showcase all the way back in 2014. Not much had come out since the game’s announcement, so it fell to the wayside and was largely forgotten about.

Wild was being designed by Michel Ancel, the designer for the Rayman franchise and Beyond Good and Evil. In a Giant Bomb video on Thursday, Jeff Grub explicitly said that the Wild project has been canceled. The news wasn’t terribly surprising, given that we’ve heard almost nothing about the game in quite some time. According to VGC, Grub had this to say in the video:
I can confirm that game is fully done. There is no Wild anymore… Wild is dead. I think Michel Ancel abandoned the project… he’s not working on it anymore, the project got shut down. The team that was working on it was looking at maybe trying to stay together and work on other projects. I don’t know what happened with that, but they were like, ‘we’re not working on [Wild] anymore, but we do have a lot of talent here, so maybe we can work on some stuff.'
Ancel had announced his retirement in 2020, and even though he said this would not have an impact on the development of Wild, this seems not to have been the case.
