RDR2: Where To Find And Catch Perch | Game Rant

The legendary Perch is one of the trickiest fish to track down in Red Dead Redemption 2. Of all the legendary fish, players seem to have the most trouble figuring out where and how to catch this slippery fellow. Of course, gamers will have to find the Perch to collect all of the fish for the "A Fisher of Fish" quest, which is one of the notable side quests in the game.

Those that have not completed it should follow our guide on how to begin the stranger mission. Meanwhile, anyone having trouble getting the Perch in particular will want to follow the steps outlined in this guide.

Players will find the legendary Perch in the Elysian Pool. The Elysian pool is northeast of Emerald Station next to the E in Hanover. However, a lot of people find it impossible to catch the fish even after discovering its spawn location. This is because the Perch has a higher chance to bite at the center of the pool, which is hard to reach simply by standing at the edge. This is uncommon for legendary fish in Red Dead 2.

To get to the center of the lake, using a rowboat is one option. However, swimming to one of the exposed rocks works just as well. Once the player gets to the center of the lake, there are still a few other things they will want to do to secure the catch.

For all of the legendary fish in Red Dead 2, gamers must use a special lure. These can be purchased from the Bait Shop in Lagras. The special lure will only become available after speaking with Gill and initiating the "A Fisher of Fish" Quest. Gill will be at Gill Landing, which is on the north shore of Flat Iron Lake southeast of Flatneck Station.

Speak with Gill and begin the quest before setting out to catch the Perch. Players will want to pick up all of the special lures, but for this fish, the special lake lure is needed. With the lure in hand, head to the Elysian Pool and begin fishing.

One of the most common misconceptions about fishing in the game is that longer casts are preferable; however, this is completely false. Shorter casts will in fact land more fish in a shorter amount of time. This is because the reel in will be almost instant as soon as the fish gets onto the hook.

Anyone having trouble catching the fish should check the legendary fish they have caught in the Compendium. Chances are, the fish was caught earlier in the game. Be sure to keep track!
