Spoonbills are strange animals. Honestly, their bills don't even really look like spoons. Aside from being liars, spoonbills are fairly agreeable creatures, which makes hunting them to complete your Red Dead Online daily challenges quite easy. The issue, however, lies in their location. Spoonbills can be found exclusively in the Bayou Nwa and Bluewater Marsh regions of Lemoyne.

This is handy because you're pretty much guaranteed to spot one if you go for a mosey in the swamps, but the issue comes from the deadly predators lurking within the murky waters. You'll have to keep your eye out for gators and snakes, or you'll soon become the one who's being hunted. Well, we've got some tips on exactly where and how to hunt spoonbills in Red Dead Redemption 2 Online.
Red Dead Online Spoonbill Locations
While their exact location isn't ideal, it's fortunate that spoonbills are all in the same part of RDO's vast map. They can be found exclusively in the marshy areas around smoky Saint Denis. Starting from the city, head west and then follow the water north and you should spot many spoonbills feeding along the water's edge.
West Of Sant Denis
The river banks between Caliga Hill and Saint Denis are a good and relatively safe spot to hunt for spoonbills. There are still gators about, and there will be a lot of other players here too, so you may become gator fodder or target practise.
Bayou Nwa
The Bayou is a hard place to navigate. There's mud, tree roots, and alligator-infested waters – not ideal. However, these dangers and hardships should keep all but the most foolhardy of Red Dead Online players away, so you'll have the area to yourself – and the gators.
Bluewater Marsh
Spoonbills can be found as far north as Bluewater Marsh. Simply follow the river up from Saint Denis and you'll hit this area. Since it's further away from the city, you're less likely to encounter players, but you still have to keep an eye out for deadly predators here.
Red Dead Online Spoonbill Hunting Tips
While the spoonbills themselves won't put up a fight, the alligators and snakes certainly will. Try to hunt the spoonbills from the road, far away from the water's edge. That way you'll avoid drawing the attention of the gators. Then you can nip in, grab the carcass, and run out again.
You should also carry a shotgun loaded with slugs or explosive ammo so that you can quickly dispatch any alligators you do come across. One quick blast with a 12-gauge should kill them outright, and provide you with a good source of food too.
If you want the perfect spoonbill carcass, the varmint rifle should be your weapon of choice. This will kill a spoonbill in one shot, but not any of the predators in the area, so be sure to have a shotgun handy or be prepared to run for your life.
Don't forget to join a new session if you can't find any spoonbills, as this will reset their spawns.
