Rumor: Fortnite Leak Reveals King Shark Skin, More

Fortnite’s constant, high-budget crossovers are always welcome, with everything from Marvel and DC to Sony and Xbox all appearing in some form or fashion in the past. Because some have remained more constant, like Batman, there is the added benefit of the game always keeping up with what’s next. For example, it gives time to adapt when something big like James Gunn’s new Suicide Squad movie is coming out.

Ahead of its release, Fortnite released a crossover featuring Bloodsport. His introduction in the game referenced many other characters of the movie, specifically the Starro back bling and Harley Quinn, Polka-Dot Man, Peacemaker, and King Shark sprays. This, with other odds and ends, seemed to be the extent of Fortnite’s Suicide Squad crossover, but now a recent leak suggests otherwise.

According to well-known Fortnite content creator HYPEX, it seems that a skin for King Shark and Weasel are both coming to the game. It is worth noting, though, that the mention of these two skins come from a list of either “upcoming” or “scrapped” Fortnite skins. This also includes a Jester skin (female, male, and “king”), Jurassic Archeology (male), Komplex (male), and Save the World Halloween skin (male).

While this throws an immediate wrench into it, it stands to reason that Weasel and King Shark are two of the skins fitting in the “upcoming” category. Save the World was Fortnite’s first mode before its battle royale mode took off, and while Save The World still has its supporters, the Battle Royale mode has mostly left it behind. That’s to say, from this list, it would make sense that a Save the World skin would go on the scrap pile before King Shark/Weasel.

The others are a coin toss, but at the end of the day, it’s highly unlike Fortnite to not seize the moment of Suicide Squad’s popularity. This does beg the question of why King Shark and Weasel haven’t appeared already, as Suicide Squad’s King Shark is a particularly popular departure from the norm and Weasel’s creepiness goes a long way, but that answer is unclear. It would perhaps make more sense to release them day and date with the movie, but anything can end up with its wires crossed in video game development.

Either way, there is one major benefit to this Fortnite leak. If King Shark and Weasel are indeed “upcoming,” fans may get information as to when that is soon. If they are indeed scrapped skins for one reason or another, continued silence will likely spell the end. Fans should keep an ear out for official confirmation from Epic Games regarding these potential Fortnite skins.

Fortnite is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
