Skate 4 Confirmed To Release On PC For The First Time In The Franchise

In a seemingly random post on the official Skate Twitter account yesterday, EA confirmed that Skate 4 will be grinding over to PC when it launches alongside its console counterparts. A first for the series, this PC release will give a wider audience a chance to experience the semi-realistic skating model that influenced a generation of gamers.

The brief video is shot in a low-fi effort similar to the skate videos that permeated skating culture in the late 90s and early 00s. An unknown rider kickflips over an old-school CRT monitor that then flashes the Skate logo briefly. The text of the Tweet also states "PC_confirmation.exe." If that's not enough to convince you, I'm not sure anything will.

A little over a year ago, EA confirmed that a new installment in the Skate series would finally be hitting modern platforms. Likely greenlit in response to the then-upcoming Tony Hawk remake, EA delighted fans by making the announcement and confirming that there would be a focus on user-generated content and community features. Everything we currently know points to Skate 4 embracing skater culture well.

We still don't have any actual gameplay footage to mull over, but I don't have much reason to believe that EA is going to mess things up. Despite the company's scummy business practices in the last generation, things have been turning around for its developers. EA has become more willing to embrace titles that aren't DLC and microtransaction laden, so there's hope that Skate 4 will echo everything that made the original trilogy so great.
