A deep dive into the Banana Mania website hinted that Sonic and Tails would be playable characters in Banana Mania. There even appeared to be two empty slots for the pair on the roster. Those suspicions have been confirmed via the trailer above. The official reveal of Sonic and Tails in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. It's unclear whether the two will be available at launch, need to be unlocked, or be a part of additional DLC.
This week is shaping up to be a big one for Sonic. Idris Elba sent social media into a frenzy on Tuesday when he tweeted a snapshot of Knuckles' fist, effectively revealing he will be voicing the character in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. That has now been confirmed as work on the sequel to the surprisingly successful live-action movie continues.
As for Banana Mania, a number of elements also related to other Sega series outside of Super Monkey Ball have also been announced. Beat from Jet Set Radio will be a playabale character, players will be able to dress up as iconic Sega consoles, and even elements from the Yakuza series will be part of the game. Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania launches on pretty much all major platforms on October 5, 2021.
