Start Your Engines: Mario Kart Tour Revving Up A Super Mario Kart Event This Week

While the Mario Kart games aren’t part of the mainline Mario series, they remain some of the most popular Nintendo titles, bringing together characters from Mario’s adventures for some friendly-but-also-hostile competition on the track.

Mario Kart Tour, the series’ first foray into mobile, is receiving the #SuperMario35 treatment in honor of the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros, and it pays homage to the title that first kicked everything off: Super Mario Kart on the SNES.

The Summer Festival Tour is wrapping up in #MarioKartTour. Starting Sep 8, 11 PM PT, get ready for some nostalgia with Mario (SNES) and Donkey Kong Jr. (SNES) in the #SuperMarioKart Tour! #SuperMario35 pic.twitter.com/KUvZAXuXib

Mario Kart Tour players will have the opportunity to unlock Mario and Donkey Kong Jr. as racers, stylized graphically to look as they did in the 1992 SNES classic. As noted in the tweet from the official Mario Kart Tour Twitter account, this event begins September 8 at 11:00 PM PDT.
