TGS Esports announces the relaunch of live events, beginning with Pinnacle, Canada’s first post-pandemic live esports event hosted at the Vancouver Convention Center.
TGS’s Pinnacle, which debuted in 2018, is one of Canada’s largest and most famous esports tournaments. They will include competitions for popular titles like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Melee, Street Fighter V, Guilty Gear Strive, Tekken 7, and many others. With more announcements to come, the event will also include vendor booths, artist displays, and a scholastic esports zone where local high schools and colleges will promote their esports programs.
Pinnacle’s inaugural event in 2018 drew 750 attendees, making it a successful start for the city’s first major esports event at the moment. The event then attracted 800 guests in 2019, with a $20,000 grand prize helping them to sell out the event.
“With live esports events coming back into the fold, we are excited for what TGS has in store for 2022,” said Spiro Khouri, CEO of TGS Esports.
Pinnacle will run for three days, offer a $20,000 prize pool, and expects to draw 2000+ attendees from across North America. It will take place in the Vancouver Convention Center from October 8 to 10 2021. The organizers say that they will adhere to British Columbia’s most recent public health requirements. TGS Esports will provide more information about tickets and the complete event schedule in the near future.
