The Matrix Fans Are Growing Impatient For Matrix 4 Trailer

At CinemaCon, The Matrix 4 trailer was released to a closed-off audience that went out to share their thoughts about the preview, and it was a generally positive consensus. Fans also got a title for the upcoming sequel, The Matrix: Resurrections.

The Matrix: Resurrections will be a follow-up to the 2003 film The Matrix: Revolutions. Thought to have been concluded as a trilogy film, The Matrix series will finally make its return almost two decades later. The Matrix is known for revolutionizing special effects on film that weren't as common at the time, such as the 360 camera shots, the slow-motion effects, and 'powers' during the fight scenes. The CGI for this movie at the time of its release was nothing to scoff at.

Despite the positive reception of those who have seen the Matrix 4 trailer, many fans of the franchise aren't as happy to have been kept in the dark. The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer was revealed at CinemaCon only for the preview to be released to the public soon after. Fans of The Matrix were hoping for the same thing as well but to no avail. Per The Independent, industry insiders indicated The Matrix 4 trailer would be released publicly not longer after its CinemaCon debut. However, it appears Warner Bros. has instead opted to hold the trailer back for unknown reasons.

The Matrix 4 has also been keeping many things a secret. For example, many don't know the official plot of the movie. Many initially thought it would be a prequel, but there's no telling if that's the case at all. Considering that many already find The Matrix's story confusing, there shouldn't be a surprise if this film ended up being a sequel to the most recent installment.

Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada-Pinkett Smith will all be reprising their roles from the original trilogy. It's rumored that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be playing Morpheus, who was previously played by Laurence Fishburne in the original Matrix films. If this is true, then it gives credibility to the rumor that this film will be a prequel of some sort since Abdul-Mateen II is younger than Fishburne.

Unfortunately, fans will have to keep waiting until official news and a trailer is released for The Matrix 4. Considering that CinemaCon just happened, fans probably won't have to wait too much longer before the beloved Matrix franchise returns.

The Matrix: Resurrections is scheduled to be released in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22, 2021.
