This Week’s Indie Game Releases (August 29 – September 4)

While there may be a lull in the action between Gamescom and this weekend’s Pax West 2021, the indie gaming scene is here to bring you plenty of new titles that are just begging for you to sink your teeth into.

Guts And Goals – August 31 (PC)

If it’s zany and chaotic action that you’re looking for, CodeManu’s Guts And Goals will be right up your alley. Guts And Goals “mixes arcade-style soccer with beat 'em up gameplay”, which comes in the form of striking opponents with a seriously large and over-the-top blunt melee weapon as you try to score goals. Guts And Goals is available now on PC via Steam.

The Big Con – August 31 (PC, XBX, XB1)

The Big Con – from indie developer Mighty Yell – has all the makings of a nostalgic trip down memory lane for those of us who participated in the mall culture of the ‘90s and early 2000s. In an attempt to save your family’s video store, you’ll do everything you can (including things that are less than legal) to make sure the loan sharks are kept at bay in this incredibly gorgeous adventure. The Big Con is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Monster Harvest – August 31 (PC, PS4, XB1, Switch)

Monster Harvest – from developer Maple Powered Games – combines a farming sim with monster collecting as you create new monsters to help you maintain your plot of land while battling other monsters known as “planimals” in this charming pixelated RPG. Monster Harvest is available now for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. A demo for the game is currently available to play on Steam.

YuuYuu Jiteki no Yuukarin – September 2 (PC)

YuuYuu Jiteki no Yuukarin is a delightful, yet deceptively difficult adventure platformer from developer NUU that only gets harder as you adventure throughout the world of Nu. YuuYuu Jiteki no Yuukarin will be available on PC via Steam on September 2.

Golf Club Wasteland – September 3 (PC, PS4, XB1, Switch)

Golf Club Wasteland – from indie developer Demagog Studio – puts a new spin on the sport as you play golf in an apocalyptic wasteland. The game’s simplistic yet beautiful visuals are elevated by an equally impressive soundtrack as you make your way through each new course. Golf Club Wasteland will be available on September 3 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

A few other indie games to check out includes a handful of titles that are in Early Access, or have already been released and are making their debut on other platforms:

  • Epic Fantasy Battle Simulator (Early Access) – Available now for PC via Steam
  • Jack Axe: The Trial (Free Demo) – Available now for PC via Steam
  • Rogue Spirit (Early Access) – Available now for PC via Steam
