This Week’s Indie Game Releases (August 8 – 14)

We’re nearing the end of summer – a time when younger players trade in their controllers for school books, undeoubtedly bredrudgingly so. Things may seem a little quiet on the triple-A front during the transition; however there are plenty of indie titles available this week, including some surprise releases announced during today’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase.

Here are our picks for this week in indie games, August 8 – 14.

Necrobarista: Final Pour – August 11 (Switch)

Originally released last year, it was announced today that Necrobarista: Final Pour – from developer Route 59 – will hit Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive. The expanded director’s cut includes new immersive story content, as well as remastered visuals. A brand-new studio mode will also allow you to create your own dialogue, character movements, and story. Necrobarista: Final Pour is available today on Nintendo Switch.

Garden Story – August 11 (PC, Switch)

Explore a pixelated, vibrant island full of wholesome characters and whimsical monsters in Garden Story, from developer Picogram. In Garden Story, you’ll take on the role of a cute little grape who is tasked with solving puzzles and interacting with fellow villagers as it tries to rebuild the island and restore the community. Garden Story is available today on PC and Nintendo Switch.

Boyfriend Dungeon – August 11 (PC, Switch)

Boyfriend Dungeon – from Kitfox Games – is a dungeon-crawling dating sim where you’ll use the cash that you earn from fighting monsters to woo sentient weapons on dates. Your arsenal is also capable of turning into actual human beings, so don’t fret if you're worried about not being able to fall in love with a sword. Boyfriend Dungeon is available today on PC and Nintendo Switch.

Axiom Verge 2 – August 11 (PC, PS4, Switch)

Axiom Verge 2 – from developer Thomas Happ Games LLC – is a prequel to the original game that was released in 2015. While you powers will be relatively similar to the first game, Axiom Verge 2 will feature a brand new character as she fights for her life throughout the two interconnected worlds. Axiom Verge 2 is available today on PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

Art of Rally (Port) – Available on August 12 for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch
