Another week in the book, and 2022 is chugging along towards a truly mental game release month, or February as it’s more commonly known. I’m hoping to have gained the use of my hands back by then, but in the meantime I’m mixing a range of slow RPG things together with Lost Odyssey, Fantasian, and Pokémon Shield taking my time up.
With Horizon Forbidden West out in a few weeks, Tuffcub has gone back to replay Horizon Zero Dawn. “I have to say it has aged quite badly in terms of combat. After many months of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla it just feels very clunky and the shooting with bows is pretty awful. And yes, the facial animations look bad. But the rest of it it still fab.” He was also very meh on what he played from Rainbow Six Extraction.
Jim feels a bit more favourably toward R6 Extraction – expect his scored review next week – but found playing Horizon Zero Dawn’s Frozen Wilds DLC “a struggle.” He had much more fun with Inscryption, which he found to be an incredible mix of genres, and the DLC expansion Final Fantasy VII Remake Intermission: “After a sluggish start, it was great getting to grips with Yuffie as Remake’s fifth fully fleshed out playable character. The way this side chapter compacts itself while also exploring FF7’s wider lore makes it a must-play before the eventual release of Part II.”
Also digging through the PS4’s heyday was Steve, who has been playing Bloodborne. “Finally got past the opening roadblock and starting to get a feel for things,” he said. “I love how you get in the zone working through areas and then suddenly get wrecked by something new, or a boss fight out of nowhere. Hope it finally gets a PC port so I can replay it with a smoother frame rate and shorter loading times.” It was joined by Aggelos, New Lucky’s Tale and Human Fall Flat.
Aran has continued on with Far Cry 6, and while he’s basically in control of half of Yara, he’s only done a handful of story missions. It’s a similar story for Nick P who’s been “taking bases and messing with faces!” He complimented that with Dead by Daylight for the Bloodpoint bonus event, where he’s been enjoying the Cenobite killer.
His (almost) namesake Nic B has been playing [redacted] and Pokémon Go, so we’ll move on to Gamoc, who played the Far Cry 6 Pagan: Control DLC, UFC4 and gave Genshin Impact another go… but couldn’t remember how to play and so went back to Immortals Fenyx Rising instead.
Miguel beat the Halo Infinite campaign and complimented that with Apex Legends, Fortnite and Aliens: Fireteam, while Ade was on hand for out Windjammers 2 review – it’s just waiting a final score after he’s played some more ranked matches. Ade also played some Miles Morales which, while the story isn’t as good, is still a lot of fun, and teamed up with his partner for Kingdom Two Crowns – “I think we finally might have figured out what the heck is going on!!”
Finally, Tef made a move away from Halo Infinite after completing its battle pass, but probably only because he had to play Total War Warhammer 3 for previews and roped in Tuff and Jim to play some Rainbow Six Extraction, a game that is…. fine?
Now, then, what have you been playing this past week?
