In this guide, we are going to go over how to farm for a Dragon Tooth. This late-game item will come in handy as you make your way towards 100 percent perfection, but it can be difficult to find. First, let's take a look at where you can find this material.

What Is A Dragon Tooth?

A dragon tooth is a rare item that can be found only on Ginger Island. This is a new area added to Stardew Valley that can be accessed after you finish the Community Center storyline.

Once you complete the Community Center, Willy will send you a mail about the boat in the back of his shop. This boat will need to be repaired with 200 hardwood, five battery packs, and five iridium bars. After repairing the boat, you can sail to Ginger Island and begin collecting dragon teeth!

In the game, dragon teeth are described as the teeth of ancient serpents, made from pure iridium. Iridium is incredibly valuable, so it's easy to see why this tooth can be difficult to find.

How To Farm Dragon Teeth

Dragon teeth can be found within the Volcano Dungeon, which is located in the northmost area of Ginger Island.

This material has a 15 percent chance to drop from the Lava Lurk enemy, which can be seen swimming in the lava pools. When you kill a Lava Lurk, their loot will go directly into your inventory. This will prevent any rare loot from falling into the lava.

Gathering dragon teeth from Lava Lurks can be a long process, but you can also find them on the ground near dragon skeletons. The dungeon has ten floors, and each floor has a chance to contain one of these skeletons. Be on the lookout for these bones because nearby, you may find between one and three dragon teeth.

To efficiently farm for dragon teeth, you should quickly run through each floor of the dungeon looking for dragon skeletons and Lava Lurks. If a floor doesn't contain either of these, head to the next floor.

Dragon Teeth From Fish Ponds

Fish ponds are a great passive source of various materials. If your pond contains at least nine stingrays, then they will have a five percent daily chance to produce one dragon tooth.

Stingrays can be caught on Ginger Island from the Pirate Cove. This is an unlockable area to the east of the main beach, which will become available once you build the Island Resort.

This fish can be found during any season, time of day, and weather, but can be quite difficult to catch. Once you do manage to get your hands on one, add it to your fish pond. For more information, be sure to check out our guide on how to use fish ponds.

What To Do With Dragon Teeth

Now that you have a dragon tooth, what do you do with it? In general, a dragon tooth does not make for a good gift. Every villager except Leo hates to receive it, while Leo just likes it. The material is a bit too rare to give as a gift though.

Dragon teeth are used in one recipe, which can be found below.

Item Name What It Does Materials Required How To Get Recipe
Warp Totem: Island Teleports you to Ginger Island (can be used once per item)
  • 5 Hardwood
  • 1 Dragon Tooth
  • 1 Ginger
10,000g from Volcano Dwarf on level 5 of the Volcano Dungeon

In addition to the crafting recipe, you will need dragon teeth to construct one building.

Building Name What It Does Materials Required How To Get Recipe
Island Obelisk Teleports you to Ginger Island (permanent object can be used endlessly)
  • 1,000,000g
  • 10 Iridium Bar
  • 10 Dragon Tooth
  • 10 Banana

Five dragon teeth can also be exchanged for a banana sapling from the Island Trader. For more information, be sure to check out our guide on this Ginger Island vendor. He sells a variety of other items as well.

Lastly, a dragon tooth can be combined with one cloth at the sewing machine to make a Swashbuckler Hat. This is a brown, wide-brimmed hat with a red feather sticking out on one side.

That's all there is to farming dragon teeth! If you spend a few days going through every floor of the Volcano Dungeon, you should have enough in no time. Try to save every dragon tooth you find; overall, you will need at least 11 for building and crafting.

Warp totems are convenient, but the materials needed can build up over time. If you plan on traveling to Ginger Island frequently, it will be better to just save up materials and craft the Island Obelisk.
