WWE Star Adam Cole Contract Expiring, Will Be A Free Agent Soon

Adam Cole is expected to enter free agency a lot sooner than WWE fans expected. Despite rumors that Cole had extended his contract to 2024, it's being reported that Cole's contract will expire after SummerSlam.

Wrestling Inc. reports that Cole's contract was originally going to expire after the Great American Bash in July, but Cole decided to sign an extension. With news of Cole's potential upcoming departure, it seems the extension he signed was incredibly short.

Cole appears to have come to an agreement with WWE to stay with the company until at least SummerSlam near the end of the month. He is predicted to face Kyle O'Reilly at NXT TakeOver 36 on August 22 and his contract will likely expire shortly after. It's currently unknown if Cole will decide to renew his contract with WWE or if he will choose to follow in the footsteps of new wrestling stars by joining a new company.

Cole first made his NXT debut in 2017 at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Since his debut, Cole has held a number of championships, including his record-breaking reign as NXT Champion. According to WWE, Cole held the championship for an impressive 403 days, making him the longest-reigning NXT Champion in history. Should Cole decide to depart from WWE, he would follow a line of other stars who have reportedly signed with other companies, including Daniel Bryan of AEW. Britt Baker, the current AEW Women's World Champion is rumored to be in a relationship with Cole and it may mean that Cole will soon decide to work alongside her.

With both SummerSlam and NXT TakeOver 36 approaching in a few weeks, WWE and Cole don't have much time to iron out a satisfactory agreement. So, this may further support that Cole will not be rejoining the roster at NXT at the end of the month.

While Cole has had an impressive run in NXT, he would not be the only star who has decided to leave the company. AEW has become a home for many ex-WWE stars, but it's certainly not the only option for Cole. Over the course of his career, Cole has earned countless championships at every company he has become affiliated with. Whether he chooses to renew with WWE, return to an old company, or join something new, Cole will continue to have a more than successful and decorated career.
