Battlefield 5 And Blinx Among July’s Game Pass Games

Game Pass is Microsoft's superb video game subscription service. To keep things fresh, games get added all the time. This month, you can expect Battlefield 5, The Ascent, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and, for some reason, Blinx: The Time Sweeper.

Here's the full list of what's available and when this month:

  • Today – Battlefield 5 and Cris Tales
  • July 22 – Atomicrops, Raji, and Last Stop
  • July 26 – Blinx and Crimson Skies
  • July 27 – Microsoft Flight Simulator
  • July 29 – Lethal League Blaze, Omno, Project Wingman, and The Ascent

Battlefield 5 and Microsoft Flight Simulator are the two biggest games on that list. Battlefield 5 is a first-person shooter, developed by Dice and set during World War Two. Unlike the upcoming Battlefield 2042, 5 has a single-player campaign similar to the episodic war stories in Battlefield 1. As with all Battlefield games, 5 includes destructible environments, squad-based gameplay, and vehicles.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is the latest in Microsoft's long line of simulated flight games. This is the first title in the series to launch on consoles, but will remain "pretty much unchanged", and is one of the big titles launching on Game Pass on day one, adding fantastic value to the service. The game simulates the entire Earth using Bing maps.

In a surprise move, Blinx: The Time Sweeper, an original Xbox game is also coming to Game Pass. Originally released in 2002, Blinx follows the titular character Blinx, a Time Sweeper who has to rescue a princess from a world that has had its supply of time halted due to a gang of pigs known as the Tom-Tom Gang. Blinx was advertised as the world's first 4D action game, and also a competitor to Nintendo's Mario and Sega's Sonic. It didn't manage to dethrone the iconic characters, but it seems Microsoft still has faith in Blinx, as well as other old games.

Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, gives and takes away, however. If you've been waiting to play It Lurks Below, The Touryst, or UnderMine, you'd better play them as soon as possible, as all three titles will be leaving Game Pass on July 31.
