Bloodhunt Gets Early Access September 7 Launch Date

Bloodhunt, the battle royale set within the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, unveiled new gameplay footage at Gamescom tonight, highlighting one of the factions within the game, along with a release date of September 7 for early access. The game takes the mystique of The Masquerade and transplants it into a new genre, arming the vampires with shotguns and axes, as well as an array of special abilities.

The game is set the late night streets of Prague, and sees you taking on other vampires in small groups. As per the rules of the Masquerade, mortals must not see your dark activities, or you'll be hit with gameplay penalties. If you find a mortal alone, however, you can feast upon them in order to regain health. Developers Sharkmob showed off new gameplay footage at Gamescom, highlighting the game's bloodthirsty kills.

Earlier this year, we previewed the game, and praised its verticality – Bloodhunt encourages you to take the battle to the rooftops, letting you climb with ease and featuring no fall damage. This verticality was on display in the footage revealed at Gamescom, and is likely to be a key selling point for the game in the crowded battle royale market.

Vampire: The Masquerade does not seem the most well suited IP to the battle royale genre, and we noted as much in our preview, though we did point out that once you abandoned the conventions of the series, it was a pretty solid vampire shooter. After a successful alpha period, the game is now ready to launch in early access.

Bloodhunt will launch on PC on September 7 for early access.
