Call of Duty assembles the Vanguard in campaign trailer

Activision and Sledgehammer Games have released a new trailer for Call of Duty Vanguard. This latest pre-release teaser gives us an even closer look at the game’s story campaign as well as its lead characters who form the Vanguard.

As promised, this year’s Call of Duty will be taking us back to World War II. However, it will be leaning closer to Treyarch’s World at War as opposed to Sledgehammer’s own Call of Duty WWII, following the stories of several soldiers across different theatres of war.

Led by Arthur Kingsley, Task Force One are an elite team of operatives tasked with eliminating the Nazi regime as it looks to build the Fourth Reich.

The trailer looks utterly incredible, showcasing a number of the cinematic cutscenes that will appear in Call of Duty Vanguard. With one of the main characters, Wade Jackson, being labelled a “hotshot flyboy” we’re sure to see some air combat missions among other set piece battles Vanguard has up its sleeve.

As Call of Duty fans will know, there’s a lot more to each of these games than their singleplayer campaign. Activision and its cluster of COD studios have settled into a rhythm of crafting a huge online multiplayer component as well as a bonus (usually co-op) mode. This year, Zombies will return yet again – however, it’s being developed by Treyarch and will plug into the ongoing Zombies saga.

Call of Duty beta multiplayer flame guy

A recent Call of Duty Vanguard beta gave us a taste of its multiplayer action. From the crisp gunplay and inventive maps down to its pacing and game modes, we can’t wait to enlist when the full game launches next month.

Sledgehammer also announced that a Call of Duty Vanguard comic will accompany the game’s release. The weekly series will dig deeper into the stories of key characters, bringing aboard veteran writing talent.
