Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Players Call for Sniper Rifle Rework

While there are a few topics that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players have debated consistently, like skill-based matchmaking and the new scorestreak system, Sniper Rifles can also be seen at the top of this list. Unfortunately, it seems like some past changes to the class were not enough for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans.

One of the biggest issues had with the game's Snipers in its first few Seasons was the lack of flinch. This allowed Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players that were using Snipers to essentially win every gunfight. Even if they were shot at while aiming at a target, the bullets would have no real effect, as their sights would remain on the target. This meant that they could still land their shot with ease, something that rightfully annoyed players who had shot the sniper.

After several months of complaints, Treyarch finally added flinch to Snipers in May. Now, when Snipers were shot at, their camera will move and they would he less accurate with their Rifles. Unfortunately, while this change was well received, it does not seem like it was enough. Still, according to Reddit user Draculagged, the class does not need another nerf. Instead, it needs another rework, with Treyarch addressing complaints from both Sniper users and Sniper haters.

According to the player, the ADS time should be significantly increased. This is a common complaint from most Snipers, as it makes feats like quick scoping a whole lot harder to pull off. Letting players aim faster would, in this fan’s opinion, allow them to have the aggressive playstyle that they used to. At the same time, the player argues for far more severe flinch, believing that the previous nerf was still slight. The players calls out the LW3 Tundra Sniper Rifle specifically, a gun that has become notorious amongst the player base.

The last thing the player points out is that much like Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, there should be no precision aim assist. This feature has caused Sniper users to pull off “inhuman flicks” as they switch between targets, something that has added to the number of unfair Sniper kills. The player argues for a return to “whoever shoots first wins,” a system that is based more on reaction time than accuracy and gun skill. While this specific statement could prove divisive, most of the comments echo the player’s points.

It remains to be seen if Treyarch will address these Sniper complaints in the future. Assuming it does, such a large change would likely need to come in a substantial Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War update like Season 5 Reloaded.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
