In May, Accelerate Games announced the return of a video game franchise that many expected would never see the light of day again. Toy Soldiers and Toy Soldiers: Cold War were not only going to be remastered and re-released in HD, but a full sequel was also in development named Toy Soldiers 2: Finest Hour. Before developer Signal Studios gets to the sequel, however, the Toy Soldiers HD remaster comes first. Luckily for Toy Soldiers fans, the team is ready to share Toy Soldiers HD's quickly approaching release date.
In a new trailer for Toy Soldiers HD, publisher Accelerate Games and developer Signal Studio confirm that the remaster will launch on September 9, 2021. Platforms that will be supported at launch include the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC via the Steam storefront. The release date announcement does mention pre-ordering for Toy Soldiers HD, but considering it will only be available digitally, fans might just want to add it to their wishlists.

Those who have been following the development of Toy Soldiers HD since it was first announced earlier this year will notice that the game's new release date differs from what was previously announced. As recent as June, Accelerate had announced that Toy Soldiers HD would be arriving in August. As such, today's new release date announcement does constitute a delay, albeit a short one. No reason for the delay was mentioned, and can likely be attributed to the pandemic, scheduling, or logistical issues.
As for the big question that's sticking out in Toy Soldiers' fans' minds, there's been no word regarding Toy Soldiers 2: Finest Hour since it was announced. At this point, it's perhaps safe to assume that Toy Soldiers 2's development will come after the release of Toy Soldiers HD. The lack of news regarding the sequel could also imply that the game's development is entirely dependent on the success of Toy Soldiers HD.
Toy Soldiers HD will deliver the exact kind of package that Toy Soldiers fans would expect from a typical remastered bundle. It'll feature both Toy Soldiers and Toy Soldiers: Cold War, as well as DLC packs like the sci-fi Invasion! and The Kaiser's Battle.
The original Toy Soldiers was released in 2010 as part of Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360. Toy Soldiers: Cold War followed in 2011, meaning both of these games are over a decade old. Toy Soldiers HD offers a new generation of gamers the chance to try out the action strategy games for themselves, as Toy Soldiers is brought to new platforms for the first time.
