Daisy Has Been Made Less Sassy In Mario Golf: Super Rush

The most recent update for Mario Golf: Super Rush has changed one of Daisy's voice lines, and fans aren't happy about it.

As spotted by Nintendo Life, the latest update for Mario Golf: Super Rush changed one of Daisy's voice lines to something much less sassy than usual for the character, and it's caused annoyance from some fans.

When Daisy gets a bogey in Super Rush, she'll now say "Boo" in an annoyed tone. Before the update, getting a bogey with her would result in a sarcastic "whatever", which fans liked because it showed how different of a character she is from the rest of the Mario crew. Although it's just a single voice line that's been changed through the update, it's been enough to stir up some pretty angry reactions.

One of the bigger responses came from YouTuber Lythero, who Tweeted about the update, saying, "Nintendo removing Daisy saying 'whatever' and changing it to 'oooh booo' is so weird. Like did someone on the team get real mad over her showing a singular iota of sass? THAT was still too much personality?"

Another Twitter user, Kremling Kampaigner, said, "This is embarrassing. The Mario characters aren't allowed to have personalities, apparently. Nintendo is all for recycling old voice clips as long as they don't give the characters too much personality. They want Mario and company to be sanitized, kid-friendly corporate mascots".

Both responses on Twitter received well over 2k likes on the topic, which seems to indicate that a fair few Mario fans out there agree that the change is more of a negative one. The update that came alongside the change was a pretty big one that added a brand new stage and character, so it does seem a little weird that Nintendo thought to change the line. Even looking past the fan reaction, there's nothing offensive or particularly negative about what Daisy says, and certainly not enough to make such a weird switch.
