Dead by Daylight has already had a huge year through the first half of 2021, releasing its K-Pop-inspired Trickster killer back in March and debuting its long-awaited Resident Evil chapter in June. The latter was the last major update for the game, adding Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine as survivors, Nemesis as a killer, and the Racoon City Police Department as a battleground for the three to clash on.
Although it's not time for a new chapter just yet, Behaviour Entertainment has revealed when Dead by Daylight's next tome update is set to hit, and players don't have too long to wait. On July 28, Tome 8: Deliverance launches, bringing new story content and challenges to the multiplayer horror title. Unfortunately, Nintendo Switch players will have to wait slightly longer for the update, with Behaviour Interactive announcing its delay on the platform until its solves some performance issues.

The latest Dead by Daylight tome focuses on three characters, with the headlining attraction being an insight into the past of Jeffrey Hawk, or as he's better known, The Clown. The sadistic killer is set to get new lore in a story known as Finger of Chaos, which is briefly teased through a new trailer posted to Dead by Daylight's YouTube channel. The clip sees Hawk as a child flitting between the real world and a make-believe cartoon reality, showing how he perceives an encounter with his drunk father in both. It's sure to have plenty of grisly moments and haunting insights into the terrifying, finger-collecting jester.
The other tomes will focus on Jake Park and The Observer. Park is a member of the original lineup of survivors launched alongside Dead by Daylight back in 2016, with his backstory so far revealing that he's the son of a wealthy CEO and a competent survivor who's spent years off the grid. It seems his tale, titled Exile of the Kingdom, will offer more information about his past and how he came to be a part of the game's roster.
As for The Observer, it seems players will finally get more insight into the mysterious character. Right now, fans know that he's a prisoner in the Realm of the Entity and is the owner of The Auris: the device that allows players to see into the memories of Dead by Daylight's killers and survivors. His new story is titled Midnight in the Garden of Infinity.
This is far from the last content update slated to make its way to Dead by Daylight this year, with the game's year 6 roadmap promising new killers, survivors, and maps. As for what these new additions might be, a recent satisfaction survey teased some fun crossovers could be on the way, with the studio gauging interest in collaborations with Five Nights at Freddy's, The Last of Us, Scooby-Doo, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Alien, IT, Until Dawn, and more.
Dead by Daylight is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and mobile devices.
