Death Stranding: Director’s Cut Should Add a Post-Credits Scene

Death Stranding: Director's Cut is set to be released on PlayStation 5 in just over a month. The new version of Hideo Kojima's latest title is set to include some fresh content, ranging from expanded missions and extra activities to a host of additional modes and missions. Death Stranding: Director's Cut is highly anticipated by gamers, with some fans hoping that there could be some kind of new post-credits teaser. While nothing like a post-game teaser has been confirmed, it could be a surefire way for Kojima Productions to hype its plans for the future.

The new version of Death Stranding will boast several enhancements that many gamers are looking forward to. The new content being added should end up making this the definitive version of Death Stranding while also providing a reason for veteran players to return to the game. Enhanced versions of already-released titles could be part of Sony's plan for PlayStation going forward, too, with Ghost of Tsushima also receiving a director's cut this month. As a part of Death Stranding: Director's Cut, it wouldn't be all that surprising to see Hideo Kojima include a teaser for a new Death Stranding-related project.

What Death Stranding: Director's Cut's Post-Credits Scene Could Do

While Death Stranding can be considered a complete experience, it doesn't mean that there isn't room for a sequel. A post-game scene teasing a Death Stranding sequel would be a great tease for fans of the original game. The ending of Death Stranding is quite layered and involves several different elements, but a sequel set in this same world would certainly have an audience. A tease of the protagonist, Norman Reedus' Sam, in perhaps a new location or the midst of a conflict would be enough to hype fans up about a possible sequel. It wouldn't necessarily need to be something complicated, just a straightforward tease that there will be further adventures in the Death Stranding universe, with players in the role of Sam or even a new protagonist.

A post-credits scene in Death Stranding: Director's Cut hasn't been confirmed, though it wouldn't be too hard to foresee for Kojima Productions. Hideo Kojima is no stranger to messing with gamers, and a teaser at the end of Death Stranding: Director's Cut might not be too surprising. Hideo Kojima has repeatedly broken the fourth wall in the Metal Gear Solid series, and a teaser done in a similarly jarring manner could be a treat for Death Stranding fans. While it shouldn't be expected, seeing Sam or another character addressing the player directly isn't outside the realm of possibility.

Death Stranding: Director's Cut is a few weeks away, so fans will soon see if there is a post-credits teaser. A hint at a new Death Stranding game would be an ideal way to close off the updated version of the original game. This would not only be a nice surprise for gamers who complete Director's Cut, but also be solid confirmation that Death Stranding, as a franchise, could have a bright future ahead. Additional Death Stranding projects haven't been confirmed, so a post credits sequence could be the perfect way of saying that there is a franchise ready to be spawned.

Death Stranding: Director's Cut is set to launch on September 24, 2021, on PlayStation 5.
