Final Fantasy 14: How To Get The Magitek Predator Mount

Final Fantasy 14 is filled to the brim with mounts to collect and fly around on, though some are a lot rarer than others to come by. If you're looking to ride around in some powerful Magitek armor, look no further than the Magitek Predator.

Added in patch 4.0, this mount is one of the more rare mounts from the Stormblood expansion. Let's take a look at where you can get it, as well as some tips for acquiring this mount.

Where To Get The Magitek Predator Mount

To get the Magitek Predator Mount, you will first need to be level 70. Next, you will have to complete the Main Scenario Quest 'The Measure of His Reach', which is the penultimate quest of the Stormblood questline. Your next Main Scenario Quest will be "Stormblood", which will require you to enter the dungeon Ala Mhigo.

The Magitek Predator mount has a chance to drop from this dungeon's final boss, Zenos Yae Galvus. This boss can be difficult if you're unfamiliar with his mechanics. Also, if you plan on farming this dungeon for the mount drop, you'll definitely want to get comfortable with what Zenos can do.

During the fight, Zenos will use three abilities that you need to be careful of. These abilities are Art of the Storm, Art of the Swell, and Art of the Sword.

  • Art of the Storm: Wide damage AoE centered on Zenos. Move outside the telegraph.
  • Art of the Swell: Wide damage AoE centered on Zenos that will knock you back. Stay close to Zenos to avoid getting knocked into the outer ring of the arena.
  • Art of the Sword: Zenos will mark each player, then deal damage in a line between himself and each player. Spread out to avoid getting hit by this ability multiple times.

When Zenos has low health, he will summon three additional enemies; Ame-no-Habakiri, The Swell, and The Storm. You will have to kill these as soon as possible, or risk being wiped out. These adds will use the same abilities as Zenos, in relation to their names. For example, The Swell will use Art of the Swell and will have the same knockback effect as Zenos' version of the ability.

Overall, you should be able to get the hang of this boss rather quickly, especially if you are fighting him a few times in a row. Keep in mind that the drop rate for the Magitek Predator is very low, so expect to run this dungeon dozens of times before you see one drop.

Additionally, there is the option of running this dungeon solo. As a Tank job in an undersized party, you can complete Ala Mhigo entirely on your own. However, keep in mind that it will be quite slow, and queuing with a party normally is a better option.

The Itinerant Moogle

Another option for acquiring this mount is to wait for the Itinerant Moogle to show up. This NPC only appears during Moogle Treasure Trove events, which usually happen later on in an expansion's patch cycle. During these events, you can clear specific duties to receive special Tomestones, which you can then trade to the Itinerant Moogle for various rare items.

The Magitek Predator mount is one of these rare items that can show up in the Moogle's stock, but it is not guaranteed to be there.

If you don't feel like grinding Ala Mhigo for the mount to drop, and as long as you are ready to wait for what could be months of time, buying the Magitek Predator from the Itinerant Moogle is definitely the easier option.
