Fortnite is Officially Adding Wonder Woman to the Game

Fortnite continues to steadily cement itself as one of the most ambitious crossovers in video games. From popular franchises like Star Wars, Street Fighter, and Rick and Morty to more unusual choices like Brandon Sanderson’s fantasy novel Mistborn, more and more pieces of pop culture are getting represented in the game and its impressive collection of cosmetics. Now fans can add one of the most beloved superheroes, Wonder Woman, to that list.

Fortnite is no stranger to collaborating with DC Comics throughout the battle royale’s lifespan, having added the likes of Batman, Aquaman, the Flash, Harley Quinn, and more over the last few years. Even so, Epic Games has been stepping things up lately, with Superman being added to Fortnite just last week. But Clark Kent won't be the comic book A-lister coming to the game this month, as Epic Games has announced that Diana of Themyscira will arrive in just a few days.

Starting this Thursday, August 19 at 8:00 AM EST, Wonder Woman will be available for purchase in Fortnite's Item Shop. The Amazonian warrior will come in two variants, with players being able to choose between her iconic standard outfit and an armored version. In addition, the Wonder Woman set will include the usual slate of bonus cosmetics, this time consisting of the Golden Eagle Wings Glider, Athena’s Battleaxe, Diana’s Mantle Back Bling (which also comes in two variants), and the DC Trinity Loading Screen.

For those who wish to save their V-Bucks, however, there is one other way to unlock Wonder Woman. On August 18, players will be able to team up in Fortnite’s next tournament event, the Wonder Woman Cup, for a chance to win the Wonder Woman Outfit a day early. According to Epic Games, players will need to have two-factor authentication and an Epic account level of 30 or higher to participate.

As with previous events like the Teen Titans Cup, teams of two will have a limited amount of time to score as many eliminations as possible in up to ten matches, with each elimination granting one point. The teams with the most points in each region at the end will receive the Wonder Woman Outfit and Diana’s Mantle Back Bling, while any team that earns at least eight points will also receive the Honorary Amazons Loading Screen.

Wonder Woman joins a list of DC heroes and villains that have been added to the game in recent months, including Superman, Beast Boy and Raven from Teen Titans, and Bloodsport from the new Suicide Squad movie. It’s been a good time to be a DC fan playing the game, and no doubt plenty of them will be excited to loot and shoot across the island as Diana in a few days time.

Fortnite is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
