Homeworld Mobile Is A New RTS MMO From Gearbox

As revealed in a new trailer, Gearbox has been tooling away on an all-new real-time strategy game for mobile. The game, titled Homeworld Mobile, just debuted a gameplay trailer that shows off the combat system within the massive multiplayer. Along with the reveal, Gearbox announced that Regional Open Beta for Homeworld is currently underway in Canada.

Homeworld Mobile will take players into the far reaches of space as they fight to settle an unexplored galaxy, in this original adventure that was built specifically for mobile gaming. Players will be tasked with acquiring resources, battling enemies, recruiting officers, forging delicate pacts, and leading their team to a brand-new world. According to the game’s official site, the plot for the game focuses on a group of people known as Hiigarans as they attempt to expand their world and explore new and uncharted places in the universe. Within the game, players will choose a faction within the Hiigaran Navy to embark upon a universe-searching adventure. One of the options sees you as a member of the S’jet, where you play as a researcher on the lookout for archaic clues in space. If that's not your thing, you can choose to bring glory and prove your might as a proud member of the Soban faction. Or take a more laid-back approach as a member of the Maanan faction, where you will befriend residents of this new universe. Promising to be a "true MMO", players will be able to form alliances or compete against fleet commanders from all over the globe with co-op gameplay modes, and large-scale initiatives.

The game boasts Dynamic 3D RTS combat, which is a focal point of the trailer. This allows players to manoeuvre their ships in real-time, select individual units to adjust formations or focus targeting, and engage lasers and missiles to obliterate enemies using intuitive free reign controls. Homeworld also shows off some impressive next-gen graphics, with exceptional visual attention to 3D detail and clarity that seems like it will make the most of what your mobile device is capable of.

While Homeworld’s Regional Open Beta is currently only available to Android users in Canada, Gearbox promises that as testing continues and it prepares to fully launch, the beta will expand with new content, features, regions, and the implementation of iOS support.
