Naraka: Bladepoint – the unique melee-based battle royale from 24 Entertainment – is officially heading to consoles. The news comes directly from the Naraka Twitter account, which said a console release is coming "soon," and followed up the announcement with a first-look at Naraka: Bladepoint gameplay on PS5.
The battle royale is launching for PC on August 12, but there's no confirmation that consoles will see the game at the same time. Regardless, you should be able to get your hands on a console version of Naraka "soon" – whatever that happens to mean. Based on the PS5 gameplay footage, however, the title already looks like it's ready for a full release.

Battle royales have been diversifying lately, with some games swapping out guns and vehicles for other weapons and modes of transportation. Spellbreak – for example – sees you casting spells and levitating across the map. Naraka: Bladepoint is looking to do the same next month, giving you a massive world to explore while cutting down your foes with swords, grappling hooks, and fast-paced combos.
Players seem eager to get their hands on the game, as nearly 150,000 concurrent players jumped into its early access a few months ago. It's unclear if crossplay will be enabled for the game – and we still don't know exactly which consoles it'll arrive on – but it's great to see the promising title expanding its reach.
First announced during The Game Awards in 2019, Naraka: Bladepoint features 60-player battles, a robust character creator, a variety of melee and ranged weapons, and a grappling hook to quickly traverse the map. Our early coverage of the game said it looked like a mix of "Bayonetta, Assassin's Creed, Warframe, and Crouching Giger, Hidden Dragon," and that description still sticks nearly two years later. With fast-paced action and a unique movement system, Naraka: Bladepoint is hoping to stand out in a crowded battle royale market.
