New Pokemon Snap: How To Find Every New Pokemon In Barren Badlands

Barren Badlands is one of the three new courses added to New Pokemon Snap as part of its recent August update. While Secret Side Path and Mighty Riverside feature ten new 'mons combined, Barren Badlands introduces a whopping ten beloved Pokemon of its own.

Located on Voluca Island – the same region as Sweltering Sands and Fireflow Volcano – Barren Badlands is likely the map you'll visit last out of the three new ones. This is probably for the best, as finding all of the new 'mons here requires a bit more heavy lifting than the other two courses.

New Pokemon Snap: Where To Find Every New Pokemon In Barren Badlands

Some of the Pokemon in Barren Badlands are incredibly difficult to miss, although others require you to do some pretty weird things in order to get a proper shot.

Here's how to find Tepig, Crustle, Diglett, Koffing, Swalot, Rockruff, Scolipede, Gliscor, Zeraora, and Salazzle in New Pokemon Snap's Barren Badlands course.

  • Tepig: Luckily, Tepig spawns right in front of you the second you boot up Barren Badlands (Day). Easy!
  • Crustle: After snapping Tepig, take a look at the geyser in front of you and you'll see Crustle roaming around behind it.
  • Diglett: Diglett is everywhere in both the day and night versions of Barren Badlands – just make sure to be quick with your camera or else it will burrow back underground before you manage to snag a shot of it.
  • Koffing: After passing through the first section of the map, you'll reach some green poison swamps with Swalot roaming around. At rank one on Barren Badlands (Day), Koffing will be off to the right as soon as you get near the swamp.
  • Swalot: Swalot moves around the swamps right in front of you as you go through them. It's here both during the day and at night time.
  • Rockruff: Rockruff will spawn to your left as soon as you boot up Barren Badlands (Night) at rank one. This is unlocked after leveling the day course up to rank two. Rockruff also appears during the day from rank two onwards.
  • Scolipede: In Barren Badlands (Night), Scolipede can be seen sleeping next to where Crustle is during the day – by the scannable boulder that a Pokemon is said to be able to move. It can also be found in Swalot's swamp, right in the back left corner.
  • Gliscor: Gliscor starts appearing on the night course from level two onwards. It will fly by you as you move towards the swamps, although there are also plenty of Gliscor hanging upside down from branches throughout the map, including at the end.
  • Zeraora: At rank two of the night course, Zeraora will be sleeping on a rock to your left right after you spawn in. It's just below where Hippowdon is during the day.
  • Salazzle: While you'll be able to pick Salazzle up on your scanner at rank two of the day course, getting it to come out isn't that easy. After spawning in at rank two, look at the two Crustle fighting to the left of the scannable boulder. On the right of the boulder you'll see a Crystabloom. Hit this and the Crustle will amp things up a bit, causing the boulder to fall into the geyser below. This makes Salazzle come out behind a rock just past the boulder – it's where Torchic and the first Mandibuzz are. Be quick to snap it though, as it runs away pretty fast.
