Nintendo has finally announced its new Switch model, revealing details and confirming it will go on sale later this year.
After months of rumors and speculation, Nintendo has finally revealed that the Switch Pro is indeed real. However, since the Switch Pro was a name coined by those dying to see it, that's not actually what it's called. The new Switch has been dubbed the OLED model. It will feature a seven-inch OLED screen as the name implies and be available from October 8, 2021, just in time for the holiday season. Check out the reveal trailer for the all-new Switch below.
The size of the screen and its potential capabilities has been a big talking point ever since rumors of a new Switch model first started to circulate. While seven inches is less than an inch bigger than the regular model's screen, the reveal trailer showcases exactly how big a difference that can be. Especially on an OLED screen which is such a major selling point that Nintendo has gone ahead and named the new console after it. The screen's resolution is 1280x720p.

The changes between the OLED model and a regular Switch go well beyond the screen alone. The new model's stand is also shown off in the trailer above. A much wider and seemingly far more sturdy option than previously offered up. It also comes with a LAN port allowing for a far more stable internet connection when playing online for those who need it.
Not mentioned in the reveal is the OLED model's memory. It has 64GB of memory, doubling the internal storage of the base model. That can also be added to via a microSD card meaning you will soon be able to carry around and play more Switch games than ever before. All on a console that is only slightly bigger in physical size and let's be honest, looks pretty cool too.
Speaking of which, the OLED model actually comes in two different colors. The white one showcased in the ad, and also a blue and red one that looks exactly like the regular Switch, just a little bit bigger. Last but not least, the price. The Switch OLED model will cost $349.99 and be available from October 8, 2021.
