Kinetic Games recently released a brand-new update for its ghost hunting game Phasmophobia and it looks like fans are loving it. The game made a triumphant return to the Steam charts over the weekend with its player count soaring to over 60,000, all thanks to the update. This marks the highest number of players for the game since it debuted its Early Access launch a year ago.
Phasmophobia’s latest update, called Exposition, added a fair amount to the game. The biggest addition comes in the form of two new ghosts, Goryo and Myling, for ghost hunters to face off against. The latter of which was teased by Kinetic earlier this month with a preview of a ghost that is completely silent when hunting. Seems people are getting into the spooky mood as the new ghosts attracted a ton of players to the game. According to Phasmophobia’s Steam page, the game saw an increase in players each day since the update launched on August 26. This culminated on Sunday seeing the most players for the game, 62,448, since its launch last September. While the number has fallen since, it is still going strong.

The official patch notes for update v.0.3.0 show that Exposition brought a lot more than new spirits to the game. The ghost-hunting gear players use has been improved and the DOTS projector has been added to the equipment. This new piece of equipment means that there is a new evidence type to look out for in deciding which ghost is haunting you. In fact, all ghost types have had their evidence changed to make room for the new ghosts and equipment.
Sprinting in the game has also been reworked to allow players to sprint for 3 seconds at increased speed with a 5-second recharge. Walking speed has also been increased to the old sprint speed. Of course, since the players are faster it is only fair the ghosts are too. The patch gives increased acceleration to ghosts during a hunt if they spot you. Other changes include sound improvements, several visual adjustments, and general UI adjustments.
With spooky season quickly approaching, now is the perfect time to grab some friends, tune-up your trusty Parabolic Microphone, and get to hunting.
