Pokemon Unite: How to Change Language | Game Rant

Pokemon Unite marks a first-time foray into the MOBA genre for the popular franchise. Pokemon has embraced the goal of bringing people together by battling and trading since the release of the first game. In recent entries, Pokemon games have expanded connectivity by incorporating accessibility options such as a broad range of languages to choose from. Pokemon Unite also has a language selection feature, and this guide will help players figure out how to change language in Pokemon Unite.

Pokemon Unite carries over many gameplay mechanics and settings that longtime Pokemon fans will be familiar with. At the same time, there are new complexities like getting jungle buffs that only MOBA veterans would understand. While the game can only be mastered with time and experience, one thing that gamers should not have to worry about is playing the game in their preferred language.

Players will have the option to select a language for the game upon booting it up for the first time. While this decision will determine the language displayed during the early tutorials and when choosing a starter in Pokemon Unite, gamers will be able to change to a different language at any time upon being able to access their main hub screen.

From the hub, players can open their sidebar menu to access the Settings. This is done with the X button on the Nintendo Switch version. In Settings, players will see Language as the second parameter on the list in the System Settings tab. Simply by selecting the Change button, the player can switch the game language to any of the other languages that are currently available.

During the launch window of Pokemon Unite, only the following languages are available:

  • English
  • Japanese (日本語)
  • Korean (한국어)
  • Simplified Chinese (简体中文)
  • Tradition Chinese (繁體中文)

Fans can expect more language options to be added in the future. Specifically, French, Italian, and Spanish are planned for implementation in 2021. Gamers who are waiting for their preferred language to be added should still consider logging onto Pokemon Unite to claim the limited-time event Pokemon Zeraora.

As a MOBA, Pokemon Unite seeks to bring gamers together for exciting team-based cooperative and competitive fun. While the language options are pretty limited at the moment, people of all kinds can enjoy the addicting experience of playing a popular MOBA with friends. Pokemon Unite does not feature an overarching narrative or story mode of any kind, so fans playing in an unfamiliar language can navigate the game simply by learning a few key terms. Once fans learn how to add friends in Pokemon Unite, the good times can really begin. Winning and losing can both be worthwhile when working towards becoming a better player.

Pokemon Unite is now available as a free download on Switch, and later for iOS and Android devices.
