PS Vita’s Last Game Is Russian Subway Dogs

The PS Vita is in its last days. Although Sony has promised to keep the PS Vita's store operating (for the time being), Sony is following through with its plans to stop accepting new Vita games on July 20. That means tomorrow's releases will be the last ever for Sony's handheld console.

But at least the Vita is going out with a vodka-fueled bang. One of the last games to arrive on the Vita will be Russian Subway Dogs, an indie side-scroller where you play as one of Moscow's strays that have learned to ride the subway.

Believe it or not, the game is based on the real-life stray dogs of Moscow, who've learned to coax food from the populace in order to survive. The smartest of them have gained international attention when they were spotted riding the subway to get around town. Some have even learned the rules of traffic lights.

In Russian Subway Dogs, you play as one of these perceptive pooches riding the subway. Just like the real Moscow strays, you grab food from pedestrians, juggle vodka from alcoholics, and avoid getting eaten by Moscow’s subway bears. Which I assume to be a real thing.

Each stop on the Moscow Metro has its own objectives to complete like eating a vegetarian diet, feeding coffee to passing poodles, and not letting burger-eating passengers pass by without stealing their buns.

The game was first announced back in 2017 before releasing on PC in 2018. It's been a long road, but Russian Subway Dogs is finally ready for release on the PS Vita tomorrow, along with its PS4 release too.

The PS Vita will also get top-down shooter Ultra Mission tomorrow courtesy of Gumbo Machine. There are likely other PS Vita games coming too, but whatever arrives will be the last Vita games you'll ever see.
