Red Dead Redemption 2 Detail Shows Just How Bad Micah Is

Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 is an enormous open-world adventure that often takes players over one hundred hours to complete. It's no surprise that, although the game was first released in 2018, dedicated Red Dead Redemption 2 players are still noticing hidden details and Easter eggs three years later. These details further enhance the Wild West-inspired world through which outlaw protagonist Arthur Morgan adventures.

The latest newly discovered detail concerns Micah Bell, the primary antagonist of Red Dead Redemption 2. Micah is a former member of the Van der Linde gang who once worked alongside Arthur but now opposes him as the leader of his own gang. Unpredictable by nature, Micah seeks personal gain above all, even being willing to sell out his former comrades to the Pinkerton Agency. In one of the game's final chapters, Micah is defeated by John Marston, Arthur's fellow outlaw and the protagonist of the original Red Dead Redemption.

On the Red Dead Redemption Reddit page, a user going by u/CGTM posted newly found information about Micah. The user pointed out that, if a player examines the horses owned by the various gang members, the majority will have full health and stamina bars, similar to the horses Arthur himself can tame and ride during the game. However, the single exception is Micah's horse, Baylock. Baylock has only 1/3 to 1/4 of a health and stamina bar – indicating that his owner, despite riding frequently and making heavy use of Baylock, does not take proper care of his mount.

Another commenter pointed out that, unlike the other gang members' horses, Baylock may sometimes refuse to allow you to pet him, instead shying away in nervousness or fear. This is another potential indicator that the horse is not properly cared for by Micah. Additionally, yet another commenter noted that Micah will sometimes refer to Arthur or John's horses as "Almost as strong as Baylock." While the line may have originally seemed like a rare compliment from Micah, it may in fact be a veiled insult given that the mistreated Baylock is far weaker than the other horses in the gang.

In Red Dead Redemption 2, taking proper care of your horse via feeding and grooming is a good way for Arthur to earn points using the in-game honor system. An Arthur with high enough levels of honor will be able to unlock alternate scenes and dialogue options. Micah's poor treatment of Baylock may be just another way of showing that he, as an antagonist and foil to Arthur, lacks any honor whatsoever.

This Baylock detail is far from the only new piece of information that Red Dead Redemption 2 players have discovered in 2021. Recently, the Tik Tok account hiddengamingdetails showed off an in-game event featuring a blue jay resting comfortably on the back of a giant moose. Unlike Micah and Baylock, some residents of Red Dead Redemption 2's wild natural world are able to get along and live together in harmony.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
