Red Dead Online: Best Spots To Farm Whooping Cranes

Whooping Cranes are needed to complete Daily Challenges in Red Dead Online, but if you don't know where to look it might take you a while to find the birds. While you might be distracted by the upcoming Blood Money update, there's always still time to go on a little hunting trip.

Thankfully, players have been hunting Whooping Cranes for a long old time now, so the best spots have been mapped up and are easy to get to. Here's where to find Whooping Cranes in Red Dead Online, and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Best Spots To Farm Whooping Cranes

The best spot to find Whooping Cranes is around the Bluewater Marsh, located north of Saint Denis. This is at the heart of the swampy and marshy Lemoyne region, and Cranes spawn all over this area.

The spot next to the Lagras lake always spawns at least one Whooping Crane. All you need to do is creep into the area and dismount before you reach the edge of the lake. Your horse will startle the birds if you come riding in too hot, which means you'll need to leave the area and hope that the birds respawn. Watch out for the gators that roam the area. They shouldn't bother you unless you bother them.

Activate Eagle Eye and use a Varmint Rifle to hunt the Whooping Cranes. They'll sometimes be obscured by the long rushes on the edge of the lake and throughout the marshland.

To reset the spawns, just head into either of the two areas above. This will take you far enough away from where the birds spawn to hopefully get them to appear again. You've also got a chance of stumbling across another Whooping Crane, because they do tend to spawn all around the marshes.

Animal spawning in Red Dead Online is notoriously poor so you might need to try several times. Thankfully, the daily challenges for Whooping Cranes (usually) only require you to kill two of them, so it shouldn't take too long.

Other Locations Where Whooping Cranes Spawn

Whooping Cranes spawn all over Saint Denis in the areas highlighted below. There's also another spot down by Quaker's Cove, but it's so far away from all the other spawn points it's not really worth visiting.

Keep these in mind if you're passing through. You might be able to snag a few Whooping Cranes just by sheer luck.

However, we still recommend the spot around the marsh lake as the most reliable area for consistent spawns, both in Red Dead Online and in the single-player Red Dead Redemption 2.
