Splitgate Update Today Patch Notes, August 19

Quick Links

Splitgate is hot right now, as evidenced by all of the people who are continuing to experience server problems weeks after the console launch of the game. But there's good reason for it. Splitgate is a classic genre-fusion that takes the shooting fundamentals of Halo, and implements the portals from, um, Portal. Portals in a competitive environment like this completely change the way you'll interact with FPS games.

Splitgate is still in Open Beta, so as of right now, things are a little bit rough. They're improving all the time, with servers already behaving much more smoothly than they did only a week ago. Developer 1047 is working hard to make sure all Splitgate players enjoy a pleasant experience – at least until they rise through the ranks – and to that end, there is a new patch available today.

The latest Splitgate patch isn't quite as robust as what many players might be hoping for, but it does make some key additions and changes to the game which should, hopefully, ensure anyone jumping in post-update will enjoy their games more than ever before. Well hey, that's the hope, at least. For all of the details we have on Splitgate's latest patch, read our information down below.

Splitgate Patch Notes – August 19, 2021

Right, so, you're expecting some robust patch notes, huh? Weapon balance changes? New modes? A map, maybe? Ha, well sorry to burst your bubble pal, but this ain't it. Instead, Splitgate's developed 1047 is doubling down on delivering a premium experience, at a freemium price point, and this patch is the first step to delivering that.

Today we received word that Splitgate's full release has actually been delayed, and this is to make the current Open Beta much more content complete ahead of launch. The response the Splitgate from the FPS community has been overwhelmingly positive, and 1047 wants to deliver that community everything they need from the start, as we outline in our news article on the delay.

We won't see anything from today's delay until Gamescom, which does at least mean that news is less than a week away. Until then though, there is today's patch, which will make some changes to make current fans happy.

  • Ranked 2v2s
  • Server Capacity Improvements
  • Minor bug fixes

The biggest parts of this announcement are, of course, the Ranked 2v2 mode, which is going to please people who only have one friend to play with (I'm right there with you, comrades), and the increased server capacity. This is huge for anyone who has attempted to log in and found themselves entirely unable.

The future seems very bright for Splitgate right now – make sure to keep reading TheGamer for more guides and features on this competitive and fun FPS.
